Decorative background of a beach scene

Hi. I'm Rebecca.

I write what wants to be written

and I have stories to tell.

I started writing. It was an accident. Now, I can't stop.

Ask anyone who knows me, and they'll tell you I've never been passionate about much of anything - until I started to write. It took me by surprise, as it probably did many people, but my pace hasn't slowed yet. I'm working on my fourth full-length original novel, and prior to that, posted nearly two million words of stories on AO3.

My greatest strength is my inner monologue. I will make you feel.

A few facts:

  • I think faster than I can type, which means I typo all over the place (again, I state: word vomit). Half the time, I hit 'enter' before spellcheck has a chance to correct me.

  • I've historically averaged over 2000 words per day, though I don't write every day and don't castigate myself about it. I love hearing about other writers' processes, because I've found that we're all wildly different. I'm a shit multitasker and am most productive with one project at a time.

  • I have a B.S. and M.S. in psychology-and-adjacent fields, I made a perfect score on my high school graduation test in English/Language Arts (probably wouldn't today, but what can you do?), and am abysmal at math.

  • Everyone said the way the teens spoke on Dawson's Creek was unrealistic. I have a similarly acrobatic vocabulary and beg to differ. Also, now you know how old I am.

  • I'm an only child, and it shows. I'm an introvert, and that shows, too. I'm in my "this may as well happen" stage of life, and I recommend it.

  • I live outside Atlanta, GA, with my husband and two Tibetan Mastiffs, who spend all summer belly-down on top of the AC vents (the dogs, not my husband).

  • I'm a terrible cook and a worse bowler, but I'm better than my husband with a firearm.

  • My husband doesn't think I'm "inherently funny," which is a phrase he actually vocalized, and was the foundation of our first real fight. I burst into tears.

  • That's enough about my husband. I am funny. I've been playing the dry-and-deadpan long con for over a decade.

My favorite author is Stephen King, and I have a deep and determined love of horror and thrillers. I (personally) think psychological thrillers are my best work. However, most of my readers follow my work for romance, fantasy, and a mix thereof. I have the most fun writing humor, but enjoy writing angst, pining, and tension so vividly that I make myself cry when I re-read and edit.

I write stories that have lives of their own, characters who tell me what they want to do, and endings that surprise me. If a story wants to go left instead of right, I go left. They haven't let me down, yet.
